A breif history
The Nashwaaksis Lions Club was formed on March 22, 1966. The chartered members were: Norman Baird, John Bennett, Gary Bolton, Wilson Couglan, Charles DeWolfe, Arleigh Evans, Everett Fulkener, Claire Hawkins, Herby Hawkins, Bill MacDonald, Darrell MacPherson, Barnie Plume, Colter Pugh, Ed Smith, James Toon, and Fred Wilkins. Lion Claire Hawkins is still a member.
The Nashwaaksis Lions Club is recognized worldwide as the founder of the “Huggy Drug Awareness Program” and is home to Huggy Lion who is over 40 years old. The club continues to be a strong supporter of Portage Atlantic Youth Treatment Centre.
Since 1966 the Nashwaaksis Lions Club has helped fund many community programs and individuals. A of which are Ron Evans Bursary, IWK, Children’s Wish Foundation, The Salvation Army, Regional Food Banks, Community Kitchen, Diabetic Summer Camp for children, local sports teams and many local schools.
The Nashwaaksis Lions Club raises the money needed to fund such projects by holding a weekly radio bingo on Pure Country, charity BBQ’s, Canada Day Booth and hall rentals for weddings and parties.

Meetings / Membership
The Nashwaaksis Lions Club has a board meeting the 2nd Tuesday of each month and a regular meeting the 4th Tuesday of each month at 7:30pm.
